About Skybound Studios

Hi — I’m Callum, the developer behind Skybound Studios.

Aviation and flight simulation have been a huge part of my life for over a decade. What started out as a passion for flying virtual aircraft quickly turned into a fascination with how scenery is built behind the scenes—experimenting with custom world-building tools, SDKs, and environmental modeling.

Having recently stepped away from university to focus on real-world practical goals—including working toward becoming a real-world pilot alongside running other projects—Skybound Studios remains a major passion and focus of mine.

Real-World Flight Training Currently pursuing real-world flight training, my development philosophy is heavily informed by real operations. Having hands-on time in the cockpit directly influences how I design taxiway flows, lighting, visual signage, and airport readability for other simmers.

My background in commercial scenery development started during my time freelancing with Boundless Simulations, where I helped create high-end payware airports and honed my production skills across asset creation, layout optimization, and performance tuning.

Skybound Studios was created to bring all of that experience together into a distinct, quality-driven studio brand. While our core foundation is firmly rooted in X-Plane 12, our ambition is to grow Skybound into a recognized name across the flight simulation landscape—delivering detailed, high-fidelity airports with potential expansions into platforms like Microsoft Flight Simulator down the road.

At Skybound, we believe great scenery should feel authentic and atmospheric without tanking simulator performance.

We focus on getting the details right where they matter most: realistic ground texturing, accurate layouts, natural weathering, and solid frame rates so you can focus on enjoying the flight from gate to gate.
