Caernarfon Airport V2 Released

I’m pleased to announce that Caernarfon Airport V2 for X-Plane 12 is now officially available through Mango Studios.

What originally began as a refresh of an older scenery quickly evolved into a much larger project, with significant improvements made across almost every aspect of the airport. The goal throughout development was simple: create a version of Caernarfon that better reflects the real airport while taking advantage of the visual capabilities offered by X-Plane 12.

What’s New?

This new version includes a wide range of improvements and additions, including:

Reworked ground textures and surface detail
New PBR materials throughout the airport
Enhanced weathering and environmental detail
Additional custom modelling and scenery assets
Improved vegetation placement
New terminal interior details
Updated markings and airport layout refinements
Performance and optimisation improvements
Numerous visual fixes and quality-of-life enhancements

A Unique Airport

Located on the North Wales coast, Caernarfon Airport is one of the UK’s most scenic general aviation destinations.

With stunning views of the Menai Strait, Snowdonia, Anglesey and the surrounding coastline, it offers a fantastic environment for VFR flying and helicopter operations alike.

Capturing that atmosphere was an important part of this project, with particular attention given to environmental detail and the airport’s distinctive character.

Working with Mango Studios

This release also marks an exciting milestone for Skybound Studios, representing the first completed collaboration with Mango Studios.

While development was carried out by Skybound Studios, Mango Studios handled publishing and release management, helping bring the project to market and laying the foundations for future collaborations.

Looking Ahead

With Caernarfon now complete, attention turns towards several ongoing projects currently in development, including airport updates, new scenery releases and future collaborations.
