Caernarfon Airport (QKC / EGCK ) V2 Nearing Completion
Development on Version 2 of Caernarfon Airport is now approaching completion and is beginning to enter the testing and polishing phase.
This update has focused heavily on bringing the scenery up to a much more modern X-Plane 12 standard, with improvements made across almost every area of the airport.

Major Visual Overhaul
One of the biggest focuses throughout development has been improving overall ground detail and material quality across the airport environment.
The scenery now includes:
- Completely reworked 4K ground textures
- Improved PBR materials
- New asphalt, concrete, dirt, and wear detailing
- More realistic edge blending and surface variation
- Updated vegetation and environmental detailing
The aim throughout has been to create a much more natural and believable airfield environment while still maintaining strong performance within X-Plane 12.

Landside & Environment Improvements
The landside areas of the airport have also received significant upgrades, including:
- Reworked layout areas
- Additional clutter and detail objects
- Improved road and parking environments
- Expanded vegetation placement
- Updated surrounding atmosphere and scenery integration
These changes help the airport feel considerably more alive and cohesive compared to the previous release.

New 3D Interior Work
Version 2 also introduces new interior modelling work within the terminal building, helping add more depth and realism to the airport environment during ground operations.
Additional custom 3D improvements have also been implemented across multiple areas of the scenery.

Performance & Optimisation
Alongside the visual improvements, a large amount of work has gone into optimisation and overall scenery efficiency.
The airport has been rebuilt with modern X-Plane 12 performance considerations in mind to help maintain smooth framerates while still significantly increasing overall visual quality.

Entering Testing Phase
With the majority of the core development work now completed, the project is beginning to move into a broader testing and refinement stage.
Current focus areas include:
- Final texture balancing
- Performance testing
- Lighting adjustments
- Asset cleanup
- Additional polish and bug fixing

Further updates and release information will be shared soon as development progresses toward completion.
