A little Skybound Studios update
It’s been a busy few months behind the scenes at Skybound Studios, so thought I’d share a little update on what we’ve been working on and what’s coming up.
Santarém is getting close
Our work on Santarém – Maestro Wilson Fonseca Airport (SBSN) for X-Plane 12 is progressing well, and we’re now well within the final stages. So, not quite ready to announce a release date yet, but Santarém is getting close!
Working alongside Fernando Soares, we’ve been bringing his original airport models to X-Plane 12 while handling the platform-specific work across the scenery, including terrain, ground imagery, materials, vegetation and lighting.

More is happening behind the scenes
Santarém is currently the project closest to release, but it’s far from the only thing we’re working on.
We’ve been working with a number of developers on new projects and platform conversions, with several currently in different stages of development.
Some of these projects are still being worked through, while others haven’t been publicly announced yet, so there’s not too much we can share at this stage. We’re looking forward to showing more as things get further along.
We’ve also been continuing conversations with developers we’ve worked with previously, with further projects being planned for the future.

Looking beyond X-Plane
Another big focus for Skybound has been expanding our work beyond X-Plane.
We’re currently working on projects for Microsoft Flight Simulator as well as continuing to develop our X-Plane catalogue, and we’re increasingly looking at how existing scenery can be adapted between platforms rather than being limited to a single simulator.
It’s still early days for some of this work, but it’s an area we’re particularly keen to develop over the coming months.
Building Skybound
Over the past year, Skybound has gradually grown from a one-person scenery development operation into something much more collaborative.
We’re now working alongside other developers on development, conversions, testing, publishing and release, with the aim of building a studio that can bring more projects to the flight simulation community without every part of the process having to be handled by one person.
There’s plenty more happening behind the scenes that we can’t talk about just yet, but we’re looking forward to sharing it as things progress.
For now, Santarém is the next one :) 🇧🇷
