We are excited to share an in-depth progress update on one of our most anticipated regional projects: Santarém Airport (SBSN) for X-Plane 12.

Our team has been hard at work capturing the unique tropical atmosphere and operational character of this crucial gateway to the Brazilian Amazon. Development is nearing completion, and we expect to officially launch Santarém by the end of October at the latest.

Here is a breakdown of what you can expect when touchdown day arrives:

Key Scenery Features

  • Custom Terrain Mesh: Smooth runway slopes, accurate elevation profiles, and realistic terrain transitions tailored specifically to the airfield and immediate surroundings.
  • High-fidelity 3D buildings and objects: Highly detailed buildings and airport models designed by Fernando Soares and adapted for X-Plane by Skybound Studios.
  • High-Res Orthoimagery: Crisp, color-matched ground coverage designed to blend Santarém seamlessly into the surrounding Amazonian landscape.
  • Hand-Placed Local Vegetation: Thousands of 3D trees and custom regional foliage hand-placed across the entire airport footprint to faithfully recreate the dense, vibrant tropical environment.
  • PBR Texturing & Dynamic Weathering: Full physically-based rendering on all terminal structures, hangars, and aprons. Experience realistic material depth, surface wear, and dynamic rain reflections tuned for X-Plane 12’s lighting and weather engines.
  • Custom Night Lighting: Fine-tuned, balanced apron and runway lighting optimized for night operations without light bleed or unrealistic glare.
